Spotlight
It is important in our sport to recognise and celebrate outstanding achievement. The Spotlight page aims to ensure that no big accomplishments go unnoticed.
Whether it be on the green, or someone going above and beyond for the good of the sport, Spotlight will ensure individuals get the recognition they deserve.
Recognition Wall
Up and down the country, there are countless people that go above and beyond for our sport.
Be it carrying out maintenance on a clubhouse, installing digital screens, arranging grants for new bowls equipment, or dropping leaflets in their local area to prospective members.
Even something as simple as helping out to mark a club singles competition or going out of their way to spare an hour or two to support a new member.
We want to sing their praises far and wide – thus, we want to hear about it. No matter how big or small it may seem.
Thus, we have launched a Recognition Wall.
The Recognition Wall gives you the chance to tell us about how someone has gone above and beyond for you or your club, be it a: bowler, coach, committee member, fellow player, volunteer, or someone else entirely!
How do I nominate someone?
It’s simple! If you have someone you think is worthy of recognition, fill in the form below and tell us all about it.
How will they be recognised?
At the start of each month, we will shine the spotlight on all those that have been nominated for the previous month.
And, better still, of those nominated one person each month will be chosen to receive a special recognition and named our Bowls Personality of the Month.
The lucky recipient will receive an Enamel Pin Badge and Certificate marking their recognition.
And, it doesn’t stop there!
Every nominee over the course of the season will be put into a hat and go into a draw, with the winner receiving a Set of Bowls for their club.
Bowls HQ Season Awards
The 2024 Outdoor Season marks the start of the Bowls HQ Season Awards.
The highlight of any sports club is always the end of season awards dinner, where they look back over the season and highlight the achievements and efforts of all involved.
Here at Bowls HQ, we are eager to ensure that the people that go above and beyond both on and off the green get the recognition they deserve, and thus the launch of our End-Of-Season Awards that aim to do just that.
They will happen bi-annually, taking place at the end of both the indoor and outdoor seasons, and will be a virtual ceremony (for now at least).
Tournaments
One of the most enjoyable aspects of bowls is tournaments. Be it one-off, day competitions or week-long events, they provide the perfect environment for bowlers of all ages and abilities and from different clubs to come together for friendly, yet competitive bowling.
Indeed, there are so many fabulous tournaments that are run all over the country. For clubs, these can be a hugely important event, with the opportunity to put on refreshments, run raffles and show off their clubs’ facilities. All the while supported by teams of volunteers to go above and beyond to put on a fabulous event.
We have put together an overview of the tournaments that are on offer, ranging from the smaller, social day competitions to the larger, big cash prize multi-day tournaments; plenty to get your teeth into whether you are just a social bowler or one looking for a competitive challenge.
If we have missed off your tournament, we’d love to include it as part of our coverage so be sure to get in touch and tell us all about it.
#BestBowl
We are delighted to announce the launch of our #BestBowl Campaign.
The campaign aims to look back at some of the best and most memorable bowls that have been delivered over the years, and we have decided to pit them against each other to crown the best bowl.
We have opened it up to the general bowling public and simply asked “what is the best bowl you have ever seen?”
Be it on stream or just at your own bowls club, we would love to hear from you and for you to show us what the best bowl is. We will then compete each nomination against each other, to pick a winner.
To get involved, read more about the campaign at the following link.
